- Recruitment and Staffing: Selecting qualified individuals from a pool of applicants to fulfill positions in an organization.
- Risk Management: Address workplace risk to ensure the protection of all organization employees' physical and emotional well-being.
- Strategic HR Management: Utilize human capital to its fullest potential to gain or to keep a competitive advantage against competitors
- Training and Development: Create programs to assess how well employees perform their responsibilities.

In fact, in 2007, Money magazine and Salary.com researched hundreds of jobs and ranked Human Resource Manager as number four on its list of the Top Ten Best Jobs in America based on a variety of factors, including job growth in the next decade, earnings potential, creativity and flexibility.
